Relieves StressWith data from the Health and Social Care Information Centre in 2018 showing that 17,500 instances of hospital admissions were stress or anxiety related last year and with a cost of £71.7 Million to the NHS, Stress is a real issue on our daily lives. It can take a big toll on the body causing issues such as insomnia, anxiety, chest pains, Eczema; with Men more likely to suffer from problems like high blood pressure & women developing issues such as IBS or headaches, it is a massive factor on our health. This shows how important it is to take time to look after ourselves & deal with the toll that stress can have on our bodies.
Research has shown that massage can help by encouraging sleep, creating a feeling of well-being, encouraging deeper & calmer breathing amongst many other things. |
Professional & Thorough
As a massage therapist myself, it's difficult to find a therapist I love but I have found one who I highly recommend to anyone. Elizabeth is so thorough, really focusing on the issues and working them out. I love the hot stones and wave stones too and I always feel relaxed and a release of tension throughout my whole body! To top it off, Elizabeth is also incredibly friendly, professional and dedicated. Thank you! Naomi Taylor, Woking |
Helps muscles with exercise
Muscle recovery when exercising can be greatly improved with massage as it can help with tightness & tension. Muscles fibres become torn with exercise and the pain felt 24-48 hours afterwards is the muscle repairing itself; massage can help with this repair. For those with aches from exercising I would especially recommend a hot & cold stone massage as it aids healing by opening and closing the blood vessels and helping with cell recovery.
Improving posture
Poor posture can impact on many other parts of the body: preventing the lungs to fill properly, ‘slumping’ causing issues with rounded shoulders & pectorals as well as affecting digestion by pushing down on your internal organs. Massage can ease the joints and loosen muscles, helping to improve their range of movements, thus allowing the body to reposition itself into a more natural & healthy posture.
Improves the appearance of skin
Massage gets the blood flowing around the body allowing the nutrients in the blood to get to the skin; one of these nutrients is Sebum which helps the skin to become soft & supple.
The movements help get rid of the dead cells on the top layer of the skin and can have an exfoliating affect resulting in a healthy glow, as well as helping the elasticity of the skin.

Boosts moods
Studies have shown how important touch is to the extent that without it new born babies who are not cuddled & nuzzled -even with the correct nutrition – would not survive. Massage movements release endorphins which make you feel good with the immediate effects of reducing anger, depressed moods & anxiety. It allows you to switch off & be at peace for a while whilst calming the mind.
Massage helps with the production of oxytocin, also known as ‘The Love Hormone’ and which any Mother will know is important during labour and breastfeeding. It is a ‘shy’ hormone that leaves a loving, calming, and well nurtured feeling.

Treat yourself
Sometimes we just need a little ‘Me’ time. Maybe there’s not the time for a weekend away or day at a Spa, but taking just a couple of hours out can make all the difference. One of the first benefits when receiving a massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. The massage prompts the release of endorphins – hormones released in the central nervous system and pituitary gland. Endorphins reduce pain and increase pleasure, producing feelings of well-being. Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin and norepinephrine which can affect mood disorders, are also reduced. Instead of coming home from work and reaching for a glass of wine or a beer to de-stress, book yourself in for a massage. It’s so much more beneficial for you in every way and you’ll feel great afterwards!
